One Dead, Motorcyclist critically injured in Bronx Crash

May 24, 2022 | BRONX, NY: A motorcycle crash on the evening of Sunday May 22 in the Bronx, has left one female rider dead and a 36-year-old male motorcycle driver in critical condition, police said. According to police, a motorcyclist allegedly lost control of the vehicle and collided with oncoming traffic, crashing into a woman driving a Mercedes Benz.

The crash occurred in the Kingsbridge Heights section of the Bronx at approximately 11 p.m. on University Avenue near West 190th Street. According to officials, the impact after striking the Mercedes Benz sent the pair of motorcycle riders flying off the vehicle.

Both were rushed to Saint Barnabas Hospital where the the woman rider was pronounced dead. The male driver remains in critical condition, cops said.

The female driver of the Mercedes was evaluated by EMS and determined to be ok. For reasons still under investigation, the detectives are working to determine the official cause for the motorcyclist to lose control.
