Police Officer Fires Weapon During Search For Suspect in Brooklyn

March 03, 2022 – BROOKLYN, NY: For reasons still under investigation, an NYPD officer from the 63rd precinct opened fire on a suspect Thursday evening at East 39th Street & Avenue J. The incident occurred just after 9:00 p.m. in the flat lands neighborhood of Brooklyn. According to police, the shooting occurred following a traffic stop.

No injuries were reported following the shooting. Officers requested all available units to the scene for assistance to the incident. At least one suspect was taken into police custody with charges pending. An additional male suspect remains outstanding, cops said.

Officers also requested the assistance of NYPD’s Emergency Response Unit for search procedures and suspect apprehension. Officers were observed conducting a backyard clearing at a home at 1912 Albany Avenue in search of the additional suspect.

The investigation into this police shooting incident is ongoing.
