November 01, 2022 BROOKLYN New York – A man allegedly armed with a machete and large butcher knife was shot by a NYPD lieutenant in Brooklyn Tuesday afternoon, after the suspect advanced towards police, officials said.
Just after 4 p.m., a NYPD lieutenant was approached by a suspect holding two weapons and was given commands to drop the machete along with a knife, said authorities.




The lieutenant then discharged his service weapon twice, striking the knife wielding suspect in the leg and groin area. The unidentified suspect was transported to Brookdale Hospital where is expected to survive his injuries, cops said.

According to police officials, the machete was recovered at the scene between Snediker Avenue & Hinsdale Street on New Lots Avenue, in East New York. The investigation into the police shooting is ongoing.
