April 20, 2024 QUEENS, New York – New York City police officers fatally shot a man who was allegedly armed with a knife and threatening a woman, police said.
According to police, Jesus Nunez, 65, was allegedly armed with a knife and threatening a woman when he was shot by two police officers patrolling the Corona neighborhood on 103rd St. near Roosevelt Avenue in Queens early Saturday morning.
Police officials say just after 4am, officers witnessed Nunez holding a knife to a woman during an argument and after repeated orders to drop the weapon, officers deployed non lethal force with a taser before firing upon the 65-year-old, said NYPD Chief of Department Jeffrey Maddrey
Mr. Nunez was transported to Elmhurst Hospital, where he did not survive and was pronounced dead from his injuries, said cops.
It’s not know how the suspect knew the woman being threatened but police say she was not injured during the shooting incident.
