George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and John Lewis Statues Unveiled a Day Before Official “Unveiling”

September 29 2021 – MANHATTAN, New York:
George Floyd, John Lewis and Breonna Taylor statues are now on display Union Square Park NYC.


On the evening before their official unveiling, the three large gold colored busts were on display for passers-by in Union Square Park near 14th Street.

George Floyd Statue was originally placed in the flatbush neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York, it was vandalized days later with black spray paint and the website of Patriot Front, a White Nationalist group.

The statue was transported back to the studio for further restoration before it was brought to Union Square.

The official “Unveiling” is scheduled for 11am on Thursday, September 30th.

Confront Art set up this exhibition SEEINJUSTICE, according to Twitter press release: “The final sculptures stand at 10-feet tall, composed of layers of precision-cut wood to craft a detailed and realistic monument of each subject. The exhibition will be on display from October 1 – October 30 in Union Square in New York City. For more information on Confront Art, visit http://www.confrontart.com. “

On October 2 2021 Manhattan, New York – Statues of Breonna Taylor, George Floyd, and John Lewis were unveiled again at Union Square on October 1, 2021 during a vigil featuring Terrance Floyd, artists, movement leaders, and family members of those lost to police violence.
