77-year-old Pepper Sprayed Unprovoked on R Train, Union Square Subway Station EVACUATED

October 07, 2022 MANHATTAN New YORK – A 77-year-old man was pepper sprayed aboard an R train in Union Square Station in an unprovoked incident.

At approximately 10:22am FDNY and Police brought a massive response to a busy Union Square Subway station as reports of a subway goer spraying a a chemical substance, possibly pepper caused chaos.

The station was evacuated as announcements played over the speakers, with crowds rushing out.

First responders and EMS treated multiple people on scene and took the 77-year-old victim to a local hospital for further treatment.

Later in the day, reports came in of 13 students pepper sprayed at a Queens school just around 12:37pm, Police and FDNY responded to Cardozo High School located in Bayside Queens.

It is not known what caused the incident, school appeared to be evaluated however no serious injuries reported.
