April 28th, 2024 – Newark, New Jersey – A man and woman were seriously injured and hospitalized overnight after a car jacking suspect crashed into the Cozy Corner Bar in Newark late Saturday, said police.
According to police, the couple was pinned between a stolen car that caught fire and the bar. The injured pair were taken to University Hospital with the woman reportedly in critical condition and the male was being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Officials said the building also sustained some structural damage during the crash that occurred right around midnight, near the corner of South 12th Avenue and South Orange Avenue.
No reported arrests as of Sunday morning and New Jersey police are searching for the suspected car jacker who fled.
