September 20, 2023 MANHATTAN, New York – Police are investigating the shooting of a 65-year-old man who was gunned down in broad daylight outside of a deli in Harlem.
According to police officials, the male victim was shot at least once in the chest outside of the Express Deli and rushed to Harlem Hospital in critical condition. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
We spoke with community member Dolina Duzant, she knew the victim as “Ant” short for Anthony, who said the man killed was well known and liked in the neighborhood. Duzant said the victim sat outside of the Deli under his blue tarp playing music daily and even helped feed the community.
“He’s a family man. He’s got grandbabies, cousins, aunts, uncles. It’s sad. Really, really sad. My prayers go out and whoever did this was a coward”, Duzant said.
There are no arrests at this time and the investigation remains ongoing.
