December 31 2021 Manhattan, New York – New Year’s Eve celebrations went on in Times Square, amid Covid19 related limitations.
This year’s attendance capacity was lowered to only 15,000 people. Times Square visually appeared empty in aerial shots this evening, usually the celebration holds around 60,000 attendees.
Covid safety was the big topic leading into this year’s festivities. Revelers were required to show photo identification along with vaccination cards to enter. Attendees were also required to wear a mask at the outdoor event.
Time Square viewing areas were scheduled to open at 3pm, however attendees went through covid protocol stations early and were allowed to enter around 1pm.
The event held this evening had a huge security presence. The FBI, NYPD and other agencies were seen walking around Times Square keeping everyone in attendance at the NYE celebration safe.
