Fleeing driver drags NYPD lieutenant in Brooklyn

April 23 2021 – East Flatbush , New York:
An NYPD lieutenant was dragged by a car driven by an alleged drunken driver in Brooklyn ,police said Saturday.


NYPD lieutenant stopped the car on Rockaway Parkway in Brownsville around 3:50 a.m. on a suspicion that driver was intoxicated. When asked the driver to step out of the vehicle, driver took off, dragging Lieutenant with him. He was dragged a few feet before being able to break free.

According to scanners, police knew who the suspect was and sent cops to his house. When police arrived at his house the suspect was already gone, but the car was on the scene. According to police scanners suspect may have robbed a driver at gun point for his another car to continue his escape.

The driver, Takim Newsom, 32, fled and was later arrested in Nassau County, according to the NYPD.
