Man fatally struck, dragged under a car on UWS

April 18 2021 Manhattan, New York – a man was struck by a car just before midnight at 11:55 p.m. Sunday on Central Park West between West 62nd and 63rd streets.

According to police, the driver eventually realized what occurred and returned to the scene to speak to police. The man who was hit died from his injuries. No charges have been filed and investigation is ongoing.

Further investigation by the NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad determined that a 1998 Lexus sedan, driven by a 28-year-old male, was traveling north bound along Central Park West, between West 62 and West 63 Streets, in the left lane, when, at the same time, the pedestrian walked into the roadway from the west curb and laid down in that lane.
