Two Fatal Shootings Occur Blocks from Each other in NJ

August 07, 2022 Jersey City, New Jersey: The Jersey City Police Department is investigating a pair of separate double shootings that occurred overnight and has left one man dead along with another man that suffered life-threatening injuries in two early Sunday morning incidents.

Around midnight Jersey City PD responded to a shooting near Claremont Ave for a call of two people shot. The injury report wasn’t immediately known, however one of the victims transported to an area hospital was subsequently listed as critically wounded and admitted with life threatening injuries.

A few hours later a separate fatal double shooting occurred nearby.

Just after 3:00 a.m., a 46-year-old man identified by police as Keshean Nettles and a 49-year-old victim who has yet to be identified were shot on Monticello Avenue in Jersey City.

According to authorities both victims were rushed by EMS to Jersey City Medical Center, where 46-year-old Nettles was pronounced dead. The unidentified victim was left fighting for his life in critical condition, the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office said.

Investigators have yet to locate suspects in both shootings and its unknown at this time if they are connected. There are no arrests in either case and the investigation into the two separate shootings is ongoing.
