NYPD Bomb Squad Removes Grenade Found Outside Chase Bank – QUEENS

April 09, 2024 QUEENS, New York – A NYPD Bomb Squad Unit removed a grenade after found under an elevated train track and near a Chase Bank, in Queens on Tuesday, police said.

A cleaning crew working in a nearby building reportedly found the grenade inside a plastic bag just before 11:30am on Tuesday. The crew alerted police and Bomb Squad was requested following the discovery near Liberty Ave & 112th in the South Ozone Park neighborhood in Queens.

Train service on the A train was suspended by MTA between the Rockaway Boulevard and Ozone Park-Lefferts Blvd subway stations for NYPD investigation in the street level below the elevated train.

We spoke with a bank employee who did not want to be on camera, about the grenade found so close to her job as she was arriving for work.

“This is New York, it’s Liberty you know. This is our home, this is where we go to work and it’s not even safe to go into your job and shit like this happens.” said the visibly shaken bank worker.

The NYPD Bomb Squad Unit transported the grenade to Rodman’s Neck, a NYPD Shooting Range in the Bronx, for further investigation and determined the device to be inactive.

No arrests, the incident remains under investigation.
