March 17 2024 – QUEENS, New York: A street in Jackson Heights, Queens has been recently populated by migrant Street vendors and has gone viral in a video showing the migrants and their wares along the corner of Roosevelt Avenue and 90th street. The vendors operations were described as a ‘third world’ illegal operation by the creator of the viral video. “The items are stolen from donation bins or stolen from stores” said Frias, a local resident, in an interview with Fox News.
On Sunday, the street appeared filled with items again, some in piles on the sidewalk, others neatly placed.
Some other local residents said this is a normal occurance for the area.
“We don’t sell stolen merch. We don’t do anything bad. We are not thieves,” one vendor said today in Jackson Heights describing their business.
“I hope [people] are compassionate towards us.” She said that their merchandise is purchased from chínese wholesalers and that they are doing this to survive and help their families while waiting for legal work.
