MTA Police Officers Shoot, Kill Groping Suspect Toting Uzi in Jamaica Queens

December 29, BROOKLYN, New York – A man armed with an Uzi semi-automatic weapon was shot dead by MTA Police officers in Jamaica Queens on Friday evening.

According to MTA Police Officials, a 19-year-old female made contact with two MTA officers near the Jamaica Station, to report a crime. The female teen told officers she was groped and forcibly touched on the breast by a man walking on the sidewalk who also blocked her way of travel, not allowing her to pass.

The teen was able to snap a photo of the man that provided police with a full suspect description and officers were able to locate the alleged attacker within minutes.

According to officials, MTA police officers say the suspect brandished a semi-automatic weapon and also tussled with officers during apprehension while refusing to obey verbal police commands to put arms behind his back.

During the brief struggle, officers exchanged gunfire with the armed groping suspect, striking him at least once with a fatal gunshot wound to the head. The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene in downtown Jamaica, Queens

FreedomNews obtained a cellphone video captured by an eyewitness of the police shooting. The video shows the exact moment officers struggle with the suspect and shots can be heard ringing out.

The incident was reported around 11 p.m. and occurred on Sutphin Blvd. near 91st Ave., just steps from Jamaica Station and Long Island Rail Road Headquarters.
