January 19 2022 Bronx, New York – An 11- month-old female baby was shot in the face while sitting with her mother in a parked vehicle Wednesday evening, in the Bronx.
According to update from NYPD Chief, An armed suspect was allegedly chasing another person down Valentine Street, when the armed assailant opened fire on the individual being chased. One bullet went into a nearby parked vehicle, striking a baby sitting in the back seat.
The child and mother were sitting in the parked car when shots rang out and hit the vehicle, striking the baby girl in the left cheek, according to NBCNewYork.
The 11-month-old child was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital in the Bronx but shortly after was transferred to Columbia Presbyterian in Manhattan and was listed in critical but stable condition, said a senior police official.
Suspect fled the scene, heading west on East 198th Street. The person of interest that fled was described as a male wearing all black.
The investigation into this shooting is ongoing.
