Firefighters Battle Five-Alarm Blaze in Bushwick – BROOKLYN

May 01, 2024 BROOKLYN, New York – Firefighters battled a massive 5 alarm fire that broke out at Brooklyn supermarket Wednesday afternoon, sent thick smoke billowing into sky.

Upon FDNY arrival, heavy smoke and flames were seen on the roof of a building. The fire that reportedly started at a supermarket quickly spread to multiple surrounding buildings.

The fast moving fire prompted FDNY to initiate a 5 alarm response for the blaze. Around 200 firefighters responded to the call at 1385 Bushwick Avenue near Cooper Street & Bushwick Avenue in Brooklyn.

No serious injuries were reported however several people were left displaced following the blaze.

Fire marshals will determine actual cause of fire as the investigation is ongoing.
