Fatal Car Collision in Brooklyn kills 42-year-old Driver, Two People attempt to Flee

On Sunday, October 17, 2021 at approximately 0425am , police responded to a 911 call of a car collision at the intersection of 60 Street and 3 Avenue, in Brooklyn, New York.

Upon arrival, police say they found an unconscious and unresponsive 42-year-old male. EMS responded and transported the male to NYU Langone Hospital – Brooklyn, where he was pronounced dead.

Police say that a preliminary investigation determined that a Mercedes Benz E Class was traveling southbound on 3 Avenue and collided with a Nissan Altima that was traveling eastbound on 60 Street. The two occupants of the Mercedes, a 19-year-old male and a 24-year-old male, attempted to flee the scene on foot following the collision but were apprehended by responding police, officials say.

Both suspects were taken into police custody and the 24-year-old male was transported to NYU Langone Hospital – Brooklyn for treatment of minor injuries.

The NYPD’s Highway Collision Investigation Squad is investigating.
