Off-Duty FDNY Lieutenant Saves Man Trapped in Burning Car – BROOKLYN

May 04, 2024 BROOKLYN, New York – The driver of a crashed out car who was trapped inside mangled wreckage that ignited was saved when an off duty FDNY lieutenant came upon the fiery collision early Saturday morning in Brooklyn.

As reported in the NYPost, FDNY Lieutenant Richard Cannon was driving home at around 3 a.m., with his family, including his wife and two children when two vehicles zoomed past them on the Belt Parkway.

The alleged speeding drivers of a BMW and Corvette then crashed leaving the Corvette in flames near the Bay Parkway exit. That’s when the veteran firefighter sprung into action to save the driver of the corvette who was trapped.

FNTV spoke with one of the people involved in the crash who stated that the car spun out due to high speeds “next thing I know, I have airbag in my face and it’s in flames” said one of the drivers involved.

The vehicle collision occurred at around 3:35 am., on the Belt Parkway near Bay Parkway eastbound in Brooklyn.
