Police Chase of Stolen Vehicle Ends in Crash with Injuries Near Columbia University – NYC



January 31, 2024 – MANHATTAN, New York – At around 12:15pm, Two people were reportedly injured during a crash following a police pursuit of a stolen BMW near W 114th St & Broadway in Manhattan.

According to an eyewitness, the driver of a stolen vehicle struck a university work truck during the crash and also hit near the corner of the Alfred Lerner Hall building on the Columbia University campus causing minimal damage to the building.

Police apprehend the suspect at 534 W 114th Street after a brief foot pursuit.

We spoke with crash Eyewitness and Columbia University student Jaden Michael who was nearby when the police chase unfolded and saw the entire incident.

“That Black BMW on the corner, he’s getting chased by police going eastbound on W 114th Street. The light turns red, so, he has to swerve around a car going southbound and as he’s coming back up, the northbound car on Broadway, he T-Bones him and they slam into the side of campus, said Columbia University student Jaden Michael.
