October 24, 2023 – WASHINGTON DC: Climate activists spent a day disrupting Gas Forum convention held at Hyatt Park hotel in Washington DC. “Natural Gas = Extinction” and “Methane Destroys Our Atmosphere” read signs.
Activists blocked the entry to the private event, as security repeatedly tried to remove them, they were stopped from going up the stairs by security and then the arrived police. As activists were leaving the hotel, security opened the doors and shoved them out, deadbolting the door behind.
As the group chanted and listened to speakers outside, they suddenly ran towards the car which allegedly carried Geoffrey Pyatt, Assistant Secretary of State.
Climate Activists surrounded Geoffrey Pyatt car and demanded he speaks to them. Police shoved protesters away as the car reversed and went the opposite way, while protesters ran 3 blocks to get back in front of it once again.
DC police struggled to contain climate activists who continued to block and surround the vehicle for nearly an hour. There were no arrests.
Protest took place at Gas Forum event at the Park Hyatt DC during the three day Gas Forum held inside.
