The 34-year-old man was shot multiple times in the chest next to the building at 2183 3rd Ave on E 119th. EMS rushed the male victim to Metropolitan hospital with life threatening injuries where he was pronounced dead, police said.

We spoke with 911 caller and Harlem resident Joshua Scott who said he ran out of his building to help the victim with medical aid before police and EMS arrival.

“I heard a couple of gunshots, sounded like two or three. Stuck my head out the window and saw two people on a Moped.” Joshua went on say “I heard people reacting, sounded like people were screaming. So I got on the phone with 911, grabbed the kitchen towel and came down and found a gentleman on the sidewalk over there with a couple of bullet wounds. We put pressure on the wounds, started CPR because I couldn’t find a pulse, and did what we got to do until the EMS and police got here” said Joshua Scott.

Incident occurred just after 10am. Detectives are searching for at least two suspects that fled on a black moped. No arrests at this time and the investigation is ongoing.
