September 12 2023 BRONX, New York – An 8-year-old boy was caught in the crossfire of a gunfight and shot early Tuesday evening in the Mott Haven section of The Bronx.

Child was shot in the leg and rushed to Lincoln Hospital where he is expected to survive. The injured boy is currently listed is in stable condition, cops said.
Resident Alejandria Brioso who heard the hail of gunfire spoke to press at the scene and stated “So I’m passing by, and there’s commotion. Gentlemen started running and they just shot each other, back and fourth, the baby caught in the middle.”
According to police, shooting erupted outside 327 Beekman Avenue just after 5:00pm, in close proximity to St Mary’s Park. Two people of interest were apprehended and taken into police custody near the scene with charges pending.
Motive for the shooting is not yet known, as the investigation is ongoing.
