August 10 2023 MANHATTAN, New York – Police report that a woman was sexually assaulted and raped just behind a Manhattan Church in Chelsea neighborhood on Thursday evening.
Cops received a 911 call around 10:46pm of a sexual assault that happened in the rear of Manor Community Christian church.
A 27-year-old woman was found with scratches on her back and around her mouth, police say she was a victim of rape and sexual assault.
Victim was taken to Lenox HillGreenwich hospital in stable condition, officials confirmed.
Police say she was approached by unknown to her male in his 20s, who led her to the courtyard behind the church, then raping her. Suspect then took off running eastbound on West 26th Street. Suspect described as a lights skin male in his 20s with black curly hair and a large nose ring.
There are no arrests at this time and Police are investigating.
