August 4 2023, WASHINGTON, DC – Climate protesters interrupted a match at the DC Open tennis tournament on Friday, between three-time Grand Slam champion Andy Murray and top-seeded Taylor Fritz.
“End Fossil Fuels” activists from Climate Defiance, threw three huge tennis balls onto the field, stopping the fourth game. Activists also unfurled the banner, which security and some attendees tried to wrestle out of their hands.
Climate Activists were then dragged out o DC Open Citi Tennis Tournament “Mubadala”, throwing one man on the ground as they tumbled with the banner.




A group of about 20 activists threw tennis balls onto the court, chanted, held banners and disrupted during the Taylor Fritz vs. Andy Murray match. Security then dragged the group out of the Stadium, there were no arrests.



The game was taking place in Washington DC at the Fitzgerald Tennis Center as part of the Citi Open taking place right now.
