Deli Worker Shot Dead at Staten Island Bodega During Attempted Robbery

July 8 2023 STATEN ISLAND, New York – A 35-year-old worker was shot in the chest and killed, during an attempted robbery at a Deli in Staten Island on Saturday night, police said.

Bassam Khateeb, who worked at the deli on 444 Manor Road, was found with a gunshot wound to the chest in at around 8 p.m., in Charleston Corners neighborhood of Staten Island, officials confirmed.

Khateeb was rushed to the hospital where he died from his injuries. Police are searching for two suspects.
