Two Firefighters Injured, Ptients Evacuated as FIRE Broke out at Mount Sinai Hospital on Upper East Side

July 7 2023 MANHATTAN, New York – A fire in the basement of Mount Sinai in Upper East Side, causes temporarily evacuations of patients and two injuries to firefighters.

Officials say the fire caused some patients to be moved to other parts of the hospital, as first responders continued getting fire under control.

According to Manhattan Borough President Mark Levine, the hospital is currently diverting incoming patients due to infrastructure damage and all elective procedures are being rescheduled.

Mount Sinai Health System said that the fire broke out inside a generator room around 12:30 a.m. in the Annenberg Building of UES Mount Sinai.

Two firefighters sustained minor injuries, they were transported to NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center to be evaluated, officials said. Four civilians also suffered minor injuries, but refused medical attention.
