April 13 2023 QUEENS, New York – A man, armed with a knife, was shot by the police after allegedly stabbing another person in Queens, a home resident was shot and killed by police in brooklyn and another man shot by police in the Bronx, officials said.
QUEENS POLICE SHOOTING
Scene unfolded on 164th Street in Jamaica neighborhood of Queens, where officers initially responded to reports of a stabbing in progress.
Police say they found a man wielding a knife and another man who had been stabbed. Police shot suspect at least once.
BRONX POLICE SHOOTING
Later in the evening, a suspect was shot in the hand by police, firearm was recovered, according to officials. Incident reported on Broadway and W 231st Street shortly after 8pm on Thursday evening. Police officers shot a man with an “imitation gun” while he was on the train tracks of Broadway 238th Street subway station, according to officials.
BROOKLYN POLICE SHOOTING
Earlier in the day, in Bedstuy, Brooklyn, police say a 78-year-old resident in Bedstuy was shot dead by the police inside his home, after a phone call made to 911 reported a robbery in progress at that residence.
Police rushed to a scene after a caller reported a robbery in progress on Lewis Avenue. As they arrived to the apartment, 78-year-old man opened the door partially, police say they saw a gun in his left hand. Cops said he raised the gun which promoted them to scream “NO!”, shooting him multiple times, killing him. “Officers were put in life or death situation” chief described the incident that only took two minutes.
Police say at this time they did not find any evidence of burglary.
Incident reported at approximately 1:26pm as police involved shooting with suspect shot at a home near Lewis Avenue and Hancock street in Bedford Stuyvesant, Brooklyn.
