78-year-old Shot and Killed by NYPD Inside His Home after Report of Home Invasion at His Adress

April 13 2023 BROOKLYN, New York – Police say a 78-year-old resident in Bedstuy was shot dead by the police inside his home, after a phone call made to 911 reported a robbery in progress at that residence.

Police rushed to a scene after a caller reported a robbery in progress on Lewis Avenue. As they arrived to the apartment, 78-year-old man opened the door partially, police say they saw a gun in his left hand. Cops said he raised the gun which promoted them to scream “NO!”, shooting him multiple times, killing him. “Officers were put in life or death situation” chief described the incident that only took two minutes.

Police say at this time they did not find any evidence of burglary.

Incident reported at approximately 1:26pm as police involved shooting with suspect shot at a home near Lewis Avenue and Hancock street in Bedford Stuyvesant, Brooklyn.
