According to police officials, just before 8pm, a 36-year-old man was shot twice in the head inside a Harlem smoke shop on Lenox Avenue. The victim was rushed by EMS to Harlem Hospital in critical condition but did not survive his injuries and was pronounced deceased.

Suspect in a backwards Yankees hat, wearing a jacket with the FDNY Logo and patches on it, allegedly shoots the victim execution style in the back of the head. As the victim starts walking out of the shop, the suspect causally pulls out a gun from his right side pocket and shoots the victim in the back of the head.

The suspect walks to the victim who is laying on the smoke shop floor face down, leans over victim and shoots him once more in the back of the head before rummaging through the dead man’s pockets.

At approximately 7:53pm, Police from the 28th precinct responded to the “Smoke Shop” on Malcom X Blvd & W 125th Street where a 36-year-old male was found inside the business with at least two gun shot wounds to the back of the head.

Shooting occurred next to popular Harlem restaurant, Red Rooster and at the same smoke shop location where months back a retired NYPD detective was shot outside the shop as he walked to work, during a hail of gunfire.

NYPD Detectives are searching for the suspect who fled the scene and at this time there no arrests. The investigation into the fatal smoke shop shooting is ongoing.
