April 05, 2023 – BROOKLYN, New York – Less than a week after being attacked, a 55-year-old man has died from injuries sustained during a violent robbery outside of a Brooklyn Deli.
According to police, John Sarquiz was hit from behind while standing outside a deli and grocery. Detectives say 55-year-old Sarquiz was hit then fell to the ground causing him to hit his head.
The attack reportedly continued as John was on the ground. He was attacked and robbed of money along with other personal belongings. Just five days after the attack and robbery in Dyker Heights, Sarquiz subsequently died at NYU Langone Hospital in Brooklyn
On Wednesday, March 29, 2023, just before 8pm, police responded to a 911 call of a male assualted in front of the Dean Mini Market – Deli & Grocery at 7224 13th Avenue, in Dyker Height’s Brooklyn.
The investigation into the deadly incident remains ongoing and as of Wednesday the case has been classified as a Homicide.
