51-Year-Old Man Shot in the Face While Pumping Gas During Apparent Robbery – BRONX

March 03, 2023 BRONX, New York – Detectives are searching for the suspect they say shot a man in the face during an attempted robbery at a Bronx gas station, early Friday morning.

According to police officials, a 51-year-old male was approached while pumping gas and shot in head during an apparent robbery. The incident occurred early Friday morning just before 1:00am, at the Gulf gas station on Webster Avenue in the Mount hope section of the Bronx.

Reportedly the male victim sprayed gas at the suspect in a “fight or flight” response as the suspect then opened fire, striking the 51-year-old man in the face, cops said.

The victim was rushed to St. Barnabas Hospital, where after several hours, police say he is expected to survive and was last listed in stable condition.

The suspected shooter described as 5’8″, with a slim build fled the scene. No arrests at this time and the investigation into the alleged robbery attempt is ongoing.
