NJ State Trooper was Shot on Duty just Feet From Congressman’s Bill Pascrell Home in New Jersey

March 2 2023 PATERSON, New Jersey – A New Jersey State Trooper was shot while on patrol in Paterson neighborhood of NJ early Thursday morning. Incident happened just feet from Congressman’s Bill Pascrell Home in New Jersey

“Late last night, a cop was shot on my street feet from our door. My wife is ok. Right now I’m rushing from Washington to check in on my wife and our neighbors. We’re praying for the officer. If gun violence can happen on the street of a member of Congress, it can happen anywhere.”

Incident happened around 12:30 a.m, near 29th street and 10th Avenue, according to state police.

Officials say that the male trooper was shot in the lower leg while patrolling the area.



The trooper sustained non-life-threatening injuries and is currently undergoing surgery at a local hospital, he is expected to survive.

Multiple suspects fled into backyards near the scene, one is in custody, officials said.

Suspect’s vehicle, was also recovered. Investigation is ongoing.
