America’s Oldest Cheese Shop “Alleva Dairy”, forced to Close after 132 Years in Manhattan due to High Rent

March 1 2023 MANHATTAN, New York – Alleva Dairy, America’s oldest cheese shop established in 1892, is now closing its doors.

Shop is forced to close after being open for 132 years due to struggle during the pandemic and rent raise at the location.

They will now be re-opening in Lyndhurst, New Jersey at a much bigger, 3700sf location.

Store is located at 188 Grand Street and will officially close today at 6pm

“Alleva Dairy will continue to be bigger and better than ever” said Karen King, the owner of the Cheese shop. “I prayed for a miracle and an angel came to me, by the name of Jack Morris”, King spoke about a developer who is giving them a great deal for a NJ location of the shop.
