February 24, 2023 STATEN ISLAND, New York – A person riding a bicycle has been pronounced dead after struck by the driver of a SUV in the Great Kills neighborhood of Staten Island on Friday morning, police said.
The female driver of the SUV remained on scene and was not charged, was reported to have hit a street sign and another vehicle before the collision with the bicyclist. Footage captured police giving the SUV driver field sobriety tests however no charges have been filed.
According to police, the victim was transported to Staten Island University Hospital in critical condition and pronounced dead.






The collision occurred around 10:15am near Armstrong Avenue & Wilson Avenue where the individual was struck and pinned underneath the SUV.
Charges against the alleged intoxicated female driver are pending a full investigation by the highway unit.
