Woman is dead after NYPD car Responding To a Call Crashed in Far Rockaway, Queens

February 17, 2023 QUEENS, New York – A woman was struck and killed in a car crash involving police vehicle, this Friday evening in Far Rockaway.

Police say that the 52-year-old victim was standing in a bicycle lane on Beach Channel Drive and Beach 32nd Street in Far Rockaway neighborhood of Queens, about 8:30 p.m. Friday.

A marked NYPD Ford Explorer, with four officers inside, rammed into the pedestrian at seemingly high speed, witnesses said.

First responders rushed to the scene and the aid of the woman, the victim was rushed to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead, police said.

Officials say the four involved police officers sustained various injuries but are both at the hospital in alert and stable condition.

Officials say that the officers were driving in response to a call about an officer needing assistance.
