Elderly Man Dies in Whitestone House Fire – QUEENS

February 16, 2023 – QUEENS, New York – Overnight a heavy fire ripped through the second floor of a home in Whitestone where it’s being reported that an elderly man in his 70s died as a result of the fire in Queens Friday morning, according to officials.

The elderly man was rushed to an area hospital after found suffering serious injuries from smoke inhalation. According to FDNY the resident was pronounced dead at NewYork-Presbyterian Queens Hospital.

At approximately 3:00 a.m., firefighters responded to 149-36 18th Ave. in the Whitestone neighborhood for a fire on the second floor of a private home that left one person critical.

The cause of fire is unknown at this time and a investigation into the deadly fire is ongoing.
