Judge Extends Ban on Sam Bankman-Fried of FTX Communication after allegation of Witness Tempering

February 9 2023 MANHATTAN, New York – Sam Bankman-Fried of FTX arrived at Manhattan Federal Court for his bail hearing, following allegations of witness tempering last week.

The hearing today is for decision on wether his bail will be modified.

The judge in the FTX fraud case tightened the bail conditions in response to allegations of witness tampering.

Sam Bankman-Fried allegedly recently sent a text message to the former general counsel of FTX,the judge said that the text message appeared to be a “material threat of inappropriate contact with prospective witnesses.”

On Thursday morning, Judge extended a ban on Sam Bankman-Fried’s ability to contact employees of companies he once controlled and on his use of encrypted messaging technology while out on bail.

An hour after FTX founder arrival, around 11am, Charles McGonigal, former FBI Counterintelligence Chief, walked into Manhattan Federal Court this morning he was indicted on money-laundering and violation of US sanctions with Russia.
