Off-duty Officer Dies after Being Shot During a Car Purchase Robbery in Brooklyn

February 7 2023 MANHATTAN, New York – NYPD officer, Adeed Fayaz, has died after being shot during a robbery in Brooklyn on Saturday.

Police officers body was transfered in an honorary procession from Brookdale Hospital to Manhattan Examiner’s office on Tuesday evening.

38-year-old Randy Jones, suspect in the shooting of Fayaz on Saturday night, was arrested in Rockland County New York, where he was found hiding out in a hotel, according to police.

On February 4th, an off-duty NYPD officer was shot and left in life threatening condition during a robbery in Brooklyn Saturday evening, police said.

Officials say that the officer was trying to buy a car, when he was robbed and shot on Ruby Street and Dumont Avenue, in the East New York neighborhood of Brooklyn.

Officer was shot in the head at approximately 7:13pm, leaving the victim in life threatening condition.

The victim was rushed by EMS to an area Brookdale hospital in critical condition.



Suspects fled southbound on Ruby St towards Linden Blvd in a dark colored vehicle. No arrests at this time.
