February 5 2023 BRONX, New York – A man was shot by the Bronx police and left in critical condition after he was allegedly armed with a gun and was wanted in connection to an assault, officials said.
NYPD Chief of Patrol said that a group of police officers engaged the suspect around 2:20 p.m., following a report of an attack in the Concourse section of the Bronx.
Police say the suspect refused police commands to stop, displayed a firearm and pointed the gun in the direction of a passerby around 153rd Street and Grand Concourse.
Police said that the suspect pointed the gun at his own head, then suddenly turning on the officers who then engaged with the suspect, fired at him striking him multiple times.
