February 01, 2023 MANHATTAN, New York – NYPD and City sanitation workers cleared out the migrants and the camp set up on the sidewalk outside Watson Hotel in Midtown Manhattan.
The Stand off continued from earlier commotion outside of Watson Hotel in Midtown Manhattan. Migrants were cleared from camping outside the hotel after two nights sleeping outside, refusing to be transferred to Red Hook Brooklyn Cruise Terminal shelter.



Earlier in the day, activists were seen blocking TV cameras with umbrellas as some asylum seekers get on the bus from Watson Hotel to be transferred to Brooklyn Terminal Cruise in Red Hook.



Stand off continues outside of Watson Hotel in Midtown Manhattan as Migrants are camping outside on the cold streets, refusing to be transferred to Brooklyn Cruise Terminal shelter. City says that Watson Hotel residency will be changed from Single Men to families, which prompted the transfers.
Multiple buses arrive throughout the day, this afternoon about 15 migrants got on the bus to transfer to Brooklyn, roughly another 15 migrants are still outside.
On January 30 2023, Migrants began sleeping in makeshift tents and blankets, on the cold streets outside of Manhattan Hotel, refusing a transfer from Watson Hotel to Brooklyn Cruise Terminal in Red Hook, due to what they described as bad “ICE Box” cold conditions.
On a Sunday afternoon, asylum seekers staying at Midtown hotel on West 57th were told they will be transferred to a camp type shelter location at a Brooklyn terminal in Red Hook. As they heard of conditions under which they would be living, from those already at the terminal, they refused to get on the transfer bus.
Hotel Watson in Midtown will now only take in families, single men are no longer allowed and have been asked to transfer to a mass shelter in Brooklyn.
