January 28, 2023 STATEN ISLAND, New York – A young woman was killed following a serious single car collision with a utility pole. Leaving a grisly aftermath and vehicle split in half on Staten Island early Saturday morning, said police.
Staten Island woman Adriana Sylmetaj, 24, of Great Kills, was ejected from the vehicle and sustained severe trauma to the body. Sylmetaj who police say was pregnant did not survive the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene by police officials.
Adem Nikeziq, 30, was transported by EMS to Staten Island University Hospital with minor injuries. According to DCPI, Nikeziq, has several charges including manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide, assault, vehicular assault, reckless endangerment, driving while intoxicated, and driving while ability impaired by alcohol.
According to police officials, the 30-year-old male driver of a white Dodge traveling south on Hylan Boulevard at a high rate of speed allegedly lost control of the sedan that careened into barrier before striking a wooden utility pole around 4:45am, near Hylan Boulevard & New Dorp Lane.






NYPD officers took the 30-year-old driver who only suffered minor injuries into custody with charges against the driver pending.
