NYC Mayor Calls for “Peaceful” Protests as Tyre Nichols Tapes are Released

January 27 2023 MANHATTAN, New York – Memphis authorities released videos, showing five police officers beating Tyre Nichols, a Black man who later died in Memphis, Tennessee.

NYC Mayor Adams called for protests to remain peaceful – “Respect the wishes of #TyreNichols mother. If you need to express your anger and outrage – do so peacefully” – NYC Mayor addresses New Yorkers ahead of protests for Tyre Nichols,
“My message to the NYPD has been and will be – exercise restraint”

Multiple protests have been called across NYC and other cities in the US.

“These officers were found to be directly responsible for the physical abuse of Mr Nicols” Memphis police chief released statement on Tyre Nichols death – “This is a failing of basic humanity toward another individual. This incident was heinous, reckless, and inhumane;”
