January 25, 2023 MANHATTAN, New York – A second man has been arrested in connection with the death of a elderly woman, who was found bound and gagged inside her Upper West Side apartment, police officials say.
Terrence Moore, 53, of Brooklyn was arrested late Tuesday evening and charged in connection with the death of a 74-year-old Maria Hernandez. Moore has been charged with murder and two counts of burglary.
According to police officials, Moore and the first suspect captured in the case, Lashawn Mackey, allegedly broke into the West 83rd Street apartment of 74-year-old resident and left the elderly woman tied up to be later found dead by a relative.
Lashawn Mackey of Brooklyn was arrested Saturday and comes just three days after the body of 74-year-old Hernandez was discovered by her sister, Maria Terrero.






Murder suspect in handcuffs escorted out of 20th precinct by Detectives
Police officials say 47-year-old Mackey works at the building where Hernandez lived and that no signs of forced entry were found at the Hernandez’s home. Mackey has since been charged with murder and burglary.
The medical examiner is working to determine Hernandez’s official cause of death and the investigation is ongoing.
