January 16, 2023 BROOKLYN, New York – The lifeless body of young female floating in the East River was reported to authorities early Monday morning, police said.
According to police officials, the female found on the shoreline of the east river near Brooklyn Bridge Park is a 13-year-old girl. The teen was found by police wearing a pink sweater, styled ripped blue jeans and black combat boots.
Just before 8:30am, Police and FDNY responded to the base of Brooklyn Bridge at Brooklyn Bridge Park, near Water Street & Old Fulton Street on the Brooklyn side for reports of a body in the water.
NYPD Marine units attempted a water rescue however according to police, the female in the water was found deceased on the rocks near Brooklyn Bridge Park.
It’s unknown at this time how the young girl ended up in the water as the investigation into the deadly incident is still ongoing.
The identification of the young girl is pending a proper family notification, police said
