According to police, just after 10:00pm, 23rd precinct officers found the victim left for dead, with a gunshot wound to the head on a walking path at the Carver Houses on East 102nd Street and Madison Avenue in Manhattan, NYC.

It’s being reported the shooting may be gang related due to the victim’s alleged gang ties. The 25-year-old victim who did not live in the building was pronounced dead at the scene and is believed to have been targeted, authorities said.

We talked with “Phil”, a Carver Houses resident of over 10 years who said this incident wasn’t common. The long time resident agreed the area has moments of random violence but it was the first time in all his years living in the building to see a dead body in the courtyard.

When asked about his feelings toward witnessing the aftermath of a deadly shooting Phil said to FNTV reporter,

“It makes me feel like we need some fucking help man, and I’m not talking about police help, man. We need something constructive for these kids to do out here, you know? As a matter of fact, I remember Eric Adams said he was gonna do something about that. You know, maybe some type of program to keep these kids away from hanging out and causing trouble. I haven’t seen that yet.”

Concerned resident Phil went on to say “It seems like we’re the forgotten few. You know what I’m saying? We’re the forgotten and it seems like they just wanna throw too many cops at the situation, it’s not gonna help it out. These youth, they need more than just cops.” said Carver Houses resident “Phil”

No arrests have been made at this time and the investigation into the deadly shooting is ongoing.
