December 27, 2022 QUEENS, New York – A mother was hit intentionally by her husband’s SUV, with kids inside, in an apparent domestic assault in Flushing, officials said.
NYPD arrested MTA bus driver, Stephen Giraldo, 36, who’s accused of running down his wife with a Ford Explorer SUV as his three young children sat in the rear of the vehicle. Stephen allegedly struck 41-year-old Sophia Giraldo resulting in her left in critical condition, officials said.
According to police officials, the alleged suspect survived the wreck and managed to crawl out only to stab the victim in the stomach.
Police arrested Giraldo at the scene as his wife was rushed by EMS with life threatening injuries to NewYork-Presbyterian Queens Hospital. Sophia remains in the intensive care unit and listed in critical condition.


The 36-year-old suspect, was driving a Ford Explorer on Parsons Boulevard around 5:30am, with three children in the car.
The husband allegedly hit the 41-year-old female victim, and striking a fence in front of the family’s home, flipping the SUV on its side, police said.
Sophia was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, her sons, 11-year-old, 9-year-old and 6-year-old were in the car with the husband during the incident, cops confirmed.




The children did not sustain any injuries during the wreck, officials said.
