Fleeing Suspect Critical After Exchanging Gunfire with Police in the Bronx

December 04, 2022 BRONX, New York – NYPD officers exchange gunfire with fleeing suspects near exit five on the Major Deegan Expressway, striking at least one.

According to police officials, just after midnight 44th precinct officers were attempting a vehicle stop when suddenly, a suspect ran out of the car and fired shots at police. Officers returned gunfire, missing the suspect who then ran across a pedestrian over pass near Summit Avenue, cops said.

Upon searching for the outstanding suspect near the track area off the Major degan expressway, the armed gunmen appeared and shot at police again.

NYPD officers returned gunfire striking the suspect at least once leaving them seriously injured. EMS responded and transported the wounded suspect to Lincoln Hospital in critical condition.

Remaining suspects were taken into custody. The investigation into the police shooting in the Bronx is ongoing.
