21-year-old Woman Punched in The Face Until Unconscious During a NYC Vigil in Solidarity with China Protests

December 2 2022 MANHATTAN, New York – A 21-year-old woman protesting at Manhattan’s Columbia University on November 28, in Solidarity with protests in China, fell unconscious after a suspect repeatedly Punched her in the head, police said.

Police say an incident happened around 7:50 pm , in front of 535 West 116 Street Columbia University, where a 21-year-old was participating in a protest.

Students gathered on November 28th to protest China’s strict Covid19 rules amid “Zero Covid” policy and heavy uprising opposing it.

Police say that an unidentified man approached the female protester and punched her multiple times in the head, causing her to lose consciousness. The assailant then fled on foot in an unknown direction. The victim was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital in stable condition.
