The attacker allegedly spewed anti-Muslim statements as he sat across from the female victim while on the L train just before slashing her across the face with a blade, causing a laceration to the cheek, police said.

In an act of heroism, another train rider made a split second decision to intervene and was placed in a headlock by the perpetrator. The Good Samaritan was punched by the attacker before also being assaulted with a knife and left with slash wounds to the face, officials say.

The altercation spilled onto the L train platform, where a pool of blood was left behind as a grim reminder of the vicious attack.

No arrests at this time and the assault investigating is ongoing by The NYPD’s Hate Crime Task Force.
